We are thrilled to announce that all three of our schools - Holmes, Maercker, and Westview Hills - have been awarded the National PTA designation as Schools of Excellence! Maercker District 60 has 50% of the schools that were awarded in Illinois this year (3 of 6 total!) We are so proud!
This honor is thanks to the work and dedication of our School of Excellence committee, Wildcat Strong. The committee was comprised of Rukhsana Iqbal, Cintia Lijeron-Williams, Priya Linson, Lesley Wright, Olga Dodd, and Danielle Jamil. This recognition from the National PTA symbolizes our PTA's incredible work as national leaders in developing strong family-school partnerships.
The Wildcat Strong committee surveyed the community at the beginning of the school year and developed targets for improvement based on the results of that survey. Through partnership with the district, they facilitated discussions and a social community around the Optimistic Household program (available HERE on the district website) which teaches familes ways to foster optimism even during the trying times of the pandemic. The committee also launched the Wildcat Crew Room Parent program for the PTA. Partnering parents to support our teachers across classrooms and grades throughout the entire district, the connections and support were valued and laid a foundation for ongoing partnership.
