Dear Wildcat Family,
Happy summer. I hope you're all enjoying some rest and relaxation this summer with friends and family. I can't believe it, but we're only three weeks away from the beginning of school! As we gear up for another school year, the PTA executive board wanted to share some updates and a glimpse into the plans we've made for 2024-2025. We look forward to more members of our community being involved this year to make events and programs for our students the best they can be!
This last year has been a year of reflection and a great deal of behind-the-scenes work, planning for Maercker D60 PTA's future. As an executive board (and utilizing external expertise), we engaged in a rigorous strategic planning process. We set out to ensure that the programming that we engage in is aligned to our mission and values while also taking into account the bandwidth required to do the events and programs justice.Â
We've spent time talking to the district administration, teachers, students and volunteers to better grasp what programs are really hitting the mark on four key pillars in our mission:
Community Connection
District and School Advocacy
Fun & Joy
Learning Enrichment
As a result of all of these conversations, we've aligned on a new PTA calendar of events for the 2024-2025 school year. Some events had to be removed, given the high level of effort for the impact they delivered. We also added several events that garnered more interest. You can view our likely calendar of events on the PTA website. As with every year, we’ll need a lot of help to bring these events to fruition.
To that end, going into the new school year, we're looking for volunteers who would be willing to step up to help with individual events, longer term programs or to fill open executive board positions. While much of the strategy is complete, we need volunteers who will help shape and execute the strategy. We've compiled a list of events and programs we plan to host this year along with on-going roles we need to fill. Please take a look and sign up if you have interest in helping out with any of these.Â
Thanks to everyone who has supported PTA and continues to do so. We look forward to working with all of you this year. Be sure to join us for PTA Day and supply pick up on August 15 at Holmes and remember to join and/or RENEW your annual PTA membership for the 2024-2025 school year. Please help keep PTA alive for our district!
Thanks,
Poonam
(PTA President 2023-2025)
